Stryvling Press is a collaborative project that combines the talent of the Creative Writing course with the skills of the Publishing Studies students. Our goal is to publish beautiful anthologies which amplify diverse voices from the University of Stirling.
The first anthology, Inklings, was published in 2018 to great success, with members of the team going on to work for top publishers, such as Simon and Schuster UK. With Circling the Point (2019) the second team took things in a new direction with fresh ideas and design concepts. The second anthology continued to propel the reputation of our young publishing press through increased sales and social media presence. In 2020, another new team took over. With Time and Tide (2020), Stryvling Press maintained the high creative standards set by previous cohorts with brand new material and innovative marketing campaigns. This year saw the launch of Stryvling Press’ third anthology during a global pandemic, which presented unique new challenges to the team. Plans to branch further into digital publishing and expand production to include audiobook versions of our titles had to be put on hold until 2021.
Community has always been at the core of what we do, whether that be through giving voice to local and international students or building connections with readers from Stirling and beyond. Stryvling Press allows MLitt Publishing Studies students the opportunity to hone a range of professional skills, from editorial and design to production, marketing and management, and it gives MLitt Creative Writing students the experience of being published and seeing their words in print. By working closely together with our authors, poets and community partners, we are proud to produce anthologies which give a platform to Stirling’s unique voices and creative talent.
